New in 2023: Sylvan Lake Store & Lodge Rooms

Latest Updates   |

New Sylvan Store & Eatery

Now open! The rebuilt store and eatery features a more accessible design and is better-able to meet today's guest expectations with shorter wait times, improved product, and optimized traffic flow. Stop in for a full menu of quick casual made-to-order comfort food, snacks, groceries, boat rentals and of course ice cream. We are pleased to offer the new open patio lakeside seating!

Thank you to our visitors for their patience as the store is still being fully stocked, decorated, landscaped, and made operational.

Lodge Rooms Reopened Spring 2023

Due to an electrical fire that destroyed a full wing of rooms and left the original wing of rooms with smoke and water damage, Sylvan Lake Lodge's hotel rooms were closed for the 2022 season. The lodge rooms are now open and we have welcomed guests since May of 2023.

Two Different Experiences

The original 'historic' wing of rooms that had smoke and water damage has been repaired. We recognize that there are still aspects of these rooms that are less than desired by today's standards, and this is reflected in their affordable nightly room rates.

The wing of larger rooms that burned in the fire have been entirely rebuilt. We are happy that these rooms were able to be upgraded, and we know our guests will be pleased, too.

A Few Final Product Delays

As with all construction in the Black Hills (named the Midwest's fastest-growing market for 2022) we faced significant delays with FF&E. We have adjusted our processes accordingly and appreciate everyone's patience as final items still arrive daily. We still feel confident in the experience offered with a memorable stay at Sylvan Lake Lodge for 2023, and we welcome questions to 605-574-2561. As you can see, the rooms came together nicely overall!

An extra thank you to the State of South Dakota and everyone involved in the construction process who helped to pull things together and make these rooms available for our valued 2023 overnight guests.
