Meetings & Retreats

At Custer Resorts, we don’t believe in the same old meeting experience, and we have a feeling you aren’t looking for one.

Meetings in the Park

We believe that retreats should be a break from the daily grind and the four walls of your company’s building—and there should be a little “treat” in them.

Here, you can take time to enjoy the view. Meetings focus on slowing-down and being present. Our non-traditional setting encourages spending time together and gets you away from the daily hustle—but not too far away. We do have banquet spaces with Wi-Fi & cell service, all resorts exclusively offer modernized accommodations.

Take time to watch the baby wildlife in May or see the fall foliage in all its autumnal splendor. Your group will leave feeling rested and re-energized to tackle their next big project.

"I can’t express how grateful I am to you for your help in organizing and going through the details with me for our conference. It was truly a wonderful weekend. The Park is such a peaceful environment, and that gave people a relaxed mindset. Everything seemed to flow without incident for 2 days. We had a special treat in that the buffalo were right outside our doorway on Saturday, and nearby throughout the weekend! So amazing!"

When is the Best Time to Book?

Custer State Park Resort accepts RFPs year-round, and all seasons have their benefits in the Park for hosting corporate meetings & retreats.

Summer
As Custer State Park Resort's prime season, the most excitement is available in the summer. Advanced bookings are encouraged for maximizing lodging choices, but not required. Short-term requests are considered based on availability.

Spring and Fall
As a top South Dakota family destination, spring and fall seasons tend to offer more options for weekday stays and more banquet space options, which is a bonus preferred by many meeting planners. It is worth mentioning here that Custer State Park Resort is a seasonal destination that operates fully from the beginning of May through about the third week of October. Take advantage!

Winter
Even as Custer State Park's Resort offerings & regular Park activities (and even some scenic drives) must close for the winter months, the State Game Lodge's location in the valley allows it to operate on a limited basis during the winter months.

"I wanted to first tell you THANK YOU for all that you personally did to ensure a very successful program for Wellmark last month. I have heard nothing but positive things about their experience and they are excited at the possibility to return in July, 2023."

Where Do We Meet?

With over 9,000 square feet of combined meeting space sprinkled throughout 71,000 acres, the setting couldn't be more magical than in Custer State Park. Oftentimes, due to it being the largest property, planners will chose the State Game Lodge for lodging and meeting, and then hold awards dinners or other planned events at Sylvan Lake Lodge. Oftentimes, smaller retreats may find themselves gravitating toward a stay and meeting at Blue Bell Lodge to really embrace being away from it all.

"The group loved dinner, thank you SO MUCH for all of your assistance. 😊 The pavilion, staff and service, provided the perfect backdrop for our finale event!"
