Baby Bison Video

Travel Inspiration   |

The Custer State Park bison herd births several calves each year, and each spring, fans compete on the Custer State Park facebook page for who will guess the date for the first bison calf sighting. Those who pick the correct date will have their names placed in a drawing for one night of free camping.

Spring and of course all summer is an especially good time to tour the park as in addition to baby bison, you’ll also see families of elk, deer, and bighorn sheep. You’ll spot many of them while traversing the park’s 18-mile Wildlife Loop Scenic Byway, or during a two-hour jeep safari at Custer State Park.
