CUSTER STATE PARK — Some of the bison gathered during the annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup have been sold at auction.

The Rapid City Journal reports that 265 bison were sold on Saturday at the park corrals in the southern Black Hills.

More than 14,000 people watched this year’s annual roundup in September, matching crowd records from the previous six years.

Horseback riders were joined by all-terrain vehicles and pickup trucks to gather about 1,200 bison into corrals, joining roughly 100 head brought in earlier. Most of them were given shots and returned to the park.
