Weddings Ceremony & Reception Sites

Custer State Park Resort is composed of four different lodges that lie within the nature preserve of Custer State Park, which spans 71,000 in the beautiful Black Hills National Forest. There are 10+ miles between all lodges. Each lodge offers its own reception space, ceremony space, restaurant, general store, and sleeping units.

Each lodge has its own unique "flavor" to match the tone you want to set for your special day. If you are having your ceremony on-site, you will want to contain your reception and ceremony to the same lodge. We advise you to compare your anticipated guest count against each lodge's reception space capacity when deciding which location best fits you.

Venues:

Sylvan Lake Lodge: 

The untouched Black Hills Forest and granite spires surrounding Sylvan Lake create the Lakeside Ceremony Lawn, our most saught-after location in the Park. Here, let awe-inspiring views of the Lake, forest, adn towering boulders captivate your audience in every photo. Once you discover the magic that is Sylvan Lake, it is tough to beat.

Also available for your ceremony is the Sylvan Lodge Lawn. This intimate space offers a beautiful forest backdrop with a view of the lake through the trees, and sits conveniently next to Sylvan Lodge/Restaurant. The Sylvan Lodge Lawen is a great alternative for smaller wedding parties and goes nicely with rental of the Veranda.

Blue Bell Lodge:

If you are looking for a serene and intimate backdrop for your wedding photos, consider Blue Bell Lodge's Outdoor Chapel. While it is one of our smaller locations, it is also quite possibly the most unique. The peaceful and natural atmospere of the chapel is complemented by ponderosa pines and rock formations. After your ceremony, make your way to The White Buffalo Room, a beautiful log-cabin banquet facility, for your reception. Many of our brides and grooms fall in love with the warm, inviting atmosphere of Blue Bell, which often guarantees numerous wildlife sightings. The cabins at Blue Bell are some of the park's best, and create a cozy homespun experience for your guests. 

You may also handpick a ceremony location via horseback at Blue Bell. Our Custer State Park horses and wranglers will deliever you and your guests to your personally chosen wedding site for a unique ceremony in your secluded dream location. After the ceremony, ride back to Blue Bell's White Buffalo Room for your reception!

Legion Lake Lodge:

If you're looking for simple and casual, start with Legion. The Legion Lakeshore ceremony site is enclosed by the serenity of Legion Lake and backdropped by massive rock formations. This informal site is perfect for the unique, light-hearted couple. The outdoor deck offers Custer State Park Resort's only lakeside banquet experience. This site is also perfect for casual rehearsal dinners!

The State Game Lodge:

Our newest and largest addition to the resort, the Pavilion has already rivaled Sylvan as the most popular wedding destination... and it's easy to see why. We built this open-air facility so you could take in the beautiful outdoors at your reception while still enjoying protection from an unexpected Black Hills shower.

The State Game Lodge offers two ceremony locations: the historical Game Lodge Front Lawn and our new Lovers' Leap Deck, which will surely have your guests "ooohing" and "aaahing" as you say your vows while overlooking peaceful Coolidge Creek.

Smaller parties may be drawn to Creekside Lodge's banquet rooms, which provide your guests a modern, comfortable facility, or the adjoining Grace Coolidge Creekside Ceremony Lawn. The State Game Lodge Indoor Chapel is also available for weddings up to 25 people.
