When the original lakeshore resort burned down in 1935, Wright suggested the current location amidst a forest of pine and spruce trees
The Sylvan Lake Lodge Auditorium located near the lake is a perfect location for wedding receptions, family reunions and coorporate events. The general store offers grocery items, a quick service grill, and souveniers. The recently renovated Sylvan Lake Dining room features the best in steaks, seafood and chef's specialties.

As the highest point in America, east of the Rocky Mountains, Harney peak trail provides a challenge for even the most seasoned hikers. Moderate trails are also available, including the famous Sunday Gulch trail.
